“There are two gifts we can give our children: One is roots and the other is wings."
The Rosewood Roots & Wings Foundation exists to facilitate, advance and improve the industrial and social conditions of intellectually and developmentally disabled persons through the development of their education, occupation, recreation, and the community in which they live. Roots provide a sense of belonging and stability, while wings allow us to grow and transform the communities in which we live.
Our Client Fund exists to help with non-allowable Medicaid expenses, legal assistance, positive reinforcements, and recreational activities for the intellectually and developmentally disabled. Past funding has assisted with unmet medical care, wheelchairs, dental needs, technical and adaptive equipment, and equine therapy. The Fund also provides legal assistance for the ongoing health and well-being of the client, including guardianship and situations of equality. Additional, we strive to enrich the life experiences of disabled individuals by funding recreational activities such as trips to museums, concerts, movie tickets, and sporting events. Giving to the Client Fund elevates the lives of the people we serve.
Our Santa Fund exists to support, maintain, and develop the environment for our Santas Around the World exhibition. The exhibit is a unique display of 23 International Santas representing countries and regions from around the world and embracing the rich traditions of the Christmas season. Loretta Miller, a local Great Bend artisan, handcrafted these life-sized Santas. She has the artful ability to sculpt enchanting facial expressions. Each character wears a costume representative of their native origins. Hundreds of families visit these Santas each year and attend our local holiday festivities. The Santa Fund supports the tradition of Christmas in our community.
The Bargain Barn is a proactive business approach to supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by donating and purchasing gently used items from Rosewood Bargain Barn. We seek proper secondhand or overstock items to resell in our downtown retail location. All in-kind gifts support Rosewood Roots & Wings Foundation’s, Client Fund. Beyond a great deal or a tax deduction, donors receive immense satisfaction knowing that they are indeed making a difference in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live in Central Kansas.
The mission of Rosewood E-Cycling program is to provide work-related training opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities. We recycle cell phones, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, television, video games, DVD players, telephone equipment, and much more. The items donated are recycled responsibly, and all hard drive content is destroyed. Recycling benefits the community, our environment, and supports the people we serve.
Rosewood Roots & Wings Foundation provides transportation services that are a vital lifeline for people with disabilities allowing them to live more independently within their community with access to employment, education, healthcare, and community life. Rosewood provides and maintains vehicles that are accessible and usable by people with disabilities. Rosewood provides resources to help advance the physical and mental needs of disabled individuals in Central Kansas by funding unmet transportation, educational, instructional, therapeutic, and recreational needs.
Planned giving allows you to make a lasting gift on Rosewood Services clients, while also protecting your valuable assets from income and state taxes. There are several ways to structure a planned gift to maximize tax and financial benefits, allowing you to increase the size of your gift without increased costs.
Gifts go further with the Roots and Wings Foundation because Rosewood Services helps to support the Foundation’s administrative costs. Donations are put directly to work enriching the lives of the people we serve and the community we live in.
We want to collaborate with you! We want to hear from you whether you are a business owner, philanthropist, a person with a disability, or someone that just wants to learn more about our progressive Foundation. Feel free to stop by our office in beautiful downtown Great Bend or give us a call.
