Yours Truly Earns People’s Choice Award in Christmas Window Decorating Contest
People’s Choice Winner $1,500 – Yours Truly Gift & Flower Shoppe, 2017 Lakin: “Christmas Wonderland”
Yours Truly Gift & Flower Shoppe, 2017 Lakin, took the top-prize People’s Choice Award in the third annual Christmas Window Decorating Contest in downtown Great Bend. With a theme of “Christmas Wonderland,” Yours Truly earned 58 votes, 10 votes more than the next popular window in the contest that had 24 windows participating.
It was the second consecutive year that Yours Truly took home the top prize, although this is the first time that the category of People’s Choice was awarded for the contest. For its win, Yours Truly takes home $1,500 in prize money.
Judges 1st Place $1,000 – Dilly & Doc Creative Studio, 1520 Main Street, “Elves Gone Wild”
Dilly & Doc Creative Studio, 1119 Main Street, won the Judges 1st Place award, earning $1,000 for its effort with a window theme of “Elves Gone Wild.” Images by Emily, 1419 Main Street A, earned the Judges 2nd Place Award of $500 with the theme of “A Picture Perfect Christmas.” A panel of community members judged the windows for second and third prizes.
For the third consecutive year, an anonymous donor provided $3,000 to conduct the free contest as a way to encourage businesses to decorate store windows for Christmas. Boundaries for the window-decorating contest covered 10th to 18th Streets, and from Williams to Kansas Streets in Great Bend.

The event was organized by the Rosewood Roots & Wings Santa Committee that is associated with ‘Santas Around The World,’ the multicultural holiday exhibit, which is currently open for the season in downtown Great Bend.
