Rosewood Miracle Workers AKTION Club spent the month of April conducting a Peanut Drive as a fundraiser. Proceeds from member efforts go toward club activities and toward a community project that will be held this winter.
Rosewood AKTION Club’s Peanut Drive concluded with Peanut Day, which consisted of selling peanuts and seeking donations from shoppers at Walmart in Great Bend on April 24. The Peanut Drive and Peanut Day is a fundraising campaign spearheaded by Kiwanis Club. Since 1951, Kiwanis Peanut Day Inc. has been helping Kiwanis Clubs raise money for local charities.
Rosewood Aktion Club is an affiliate of the national Kiwanis organization that promotes service in action for people with developmental disabilities. There are 12,000 members worldwide. The local club allows Rosewood clients to be actively involved in the community and to positively impact the lives of others.
This is the second consecutive year that Rosewood AKTION Club has conducted its Peanut Drive. Last year, members donated 25 blankets and quilts to Great Bend’s Family Crisis Center. Some of last year’s Peanut Drive funds went toward the purchase of those blankets.
